Rotterdam

The former steamship Rotterdam is one of the very few large passenger ships of her era that were preserved. Built for transatlantic service with occasional cruises in mind Rotterdam served for Holland America Line from 1959 - 1997. Renamed Rembrant she was retired from active serive in the year 2000 after spending a few years with Premier Cruise Line.

Following an extensive refit - see also VFD Architects - Rotterdam is now permanently berthed in the port of Rotterdam and serves as a hotel and convention center.

More information on this remarkable vessel can be found at the Friends of steamship Rotterdam webpage.
